WHO WE ARE

El Vell Sarrià is the name of the restaurant founded in 1980, by Anna, Carmen and José Mª.
Its name is due to its situation, in the old center of the village of sarrià, formerly a town in the whereabouts of Barcelona.
The traditional catalan dishes have always been present in this restaurant, being the paella among those. As time went by, and from mouth-to-ear, the voice spread that in El Vell Sarrià, the best paellas in barcelona were made.
Today, the restaurant is in the same place, and due to our mastery in paellas, we’ve decided to prepare and pack them so we can enjoy them anywhere.

WHAT IS “PAELLA”?

Paella is an extraordinary dish that can be cooked with any accompaniment. In a casserole or a paella, it is a mediterranean dish, typical from catalonia and the spanish “levante” (eastern coast).
Some say the paella is “à point” when the grain has not yet opened, and it is wrapped by the flavours of the ingredients that go along with it. There are also many people that state that the grain has to open a bit, just to let the flavours get into and complete the flavor explosion.
